EP27 The Sweetest Release: We Can’t Keep Quiet with Milck

See this content in the original post

Milck went from being a musician struggling for years to be heard in an industry that told her flat out they “didn’t know how to break an Asian artist,” to becoming an overnight sensation when her revolutionary collaboration “Quiet” went viral from the streets of the 2017 Women’s March. Days later, she was invited to perform her new hit song on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Since then, this anthem to women finding their voice has racked up millions of views on YouTube, and Milck has performed at the United Nations, on the steps of the Supreme Court, and at the ESPY Awards as over a hundred Larry Nassar sexual assault survivors were presented with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

We are so blown away by this woman who listened to her own “still small voice” inside and turned up the volume until the entire world couldn’t ignore her. Milck’s majestic voice sings the truth of a generation of women and men no longer willing to keep quiet about the abuse they’ve experienced. If you’ve ever been messed with, harassed, coerced, raped, or humiliated sexually, you can not help but have this song wash over you like a tsunami of compassion and love. And if you would be so kind, she’d love it if you sang along.

QUIET

Put on your face
Know your place
Shut up and smile
Don’t spread your legs
I could do that

But no one knows me no one ever will
If I don’t say something, if I just lie still
Would I be that monster, scare them all away
If I let them hear what I have to say

I can’t keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh

I can’t keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
A one woman riot, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

I can’t keep quiet
For anyone
Anymore

And P.S. ladies—yes, she’s single.
