Breaking Through Oppressive Ideology Around our Bodies, Gender & Sexuality
Meet FEMINIST WELLNESS EDUCATOR Melissa A. Fabello. Equipped with her PhD in Human Sexuality Studies, she helps folks unpack “health” from a social justice perspective. She focuses on the politics of bodies, sexuality and relationships. She is able to make her work accessible and educational while still being so enjoyable and has been said to be “something close to witchcraft.” She is described as a white, cisgender, thin, middle-class, queer, and “mentally ill” and she lives in Philadelphia with her partner and four sweet cats.
In this episode you will learn about:
Intersectional feminism
Oppressive ideology around food, bodies, and beauty in this patriarchal world we live in
What it means to actually take care of our bodies
How to deal with oppression powerfully
Genital myths
Letting go of taboo around mental illness
“Focus less on the idea of loving as a form of approval and more of loving as a form of action.” - Melissa A. Fabello
