Happy Tuesday Cliterati!
In honor of Women’s history month we wanted to start this week’s episode off with a quote from femenist icon, Gloria Steinem.
“Imagine we are linked, not ranked.’ This defines the glaring difference in ideology between living in a matriarchal society vs the patriarchy we currently live in.”
Today, we are very lucky to have Annika Pampel from the movie The Gloria’s. As a femenist who grew up in East Germany ‘behind the wall’ during the post communist era, then came to the US as a strong femenist, it’s that background that had her land her role in this historical movie.
So let’s talk about the must see Amazon Prime movie. The Gloria’s is about femenist icon, Gloria Steinem. For those of you who don’t know about this woman, she is a writer, lecturer, political activist, and feminist organizer who is still alive today speaking out on issues of equality.
After studying Gloria Steinem's life for her role, became particularly interested in the shared origins of sex and race caste systems, gender roles and child abuse as roots of violence, non-violent conflict resolution, the cultures of indigenous peoples, and organizing across boundaries for peace and justice.
Janelle Monáe review of Gloria Steinem’s Book:
“This is a fearless book full of passion, resolute perspective, and unbiased hope for the future. From personal challenges to political issues, The Truth Will Set You Free, But First It Will Piss You Off! explores the power of words when it comes to being a changemaker for yourself and for the good of humanity.”
