'Grounded: A Fierce, Feminine Guide to Connecting with the Soil and Healing from the Ground Up' with Dr. Erin Yu-Juin McMorrow PhD

Episode 173

Cliterati!

Cliterati! Are you ready to dive deep into our ancestry? We are here today to learn from a Dr. Erin Yu-Juin McMorrow why restoring the feminine is an act of sacred responsibility and returning to the cycles of nature is an act of love. Dr. Erin has a doctorate in policy & planning from USC. She served as director of housing policy with the LA Coalition to End Hunger & Homelessness.

In her book, ‘Grounded: A Fierce, Feminine Guide to Connecting with the Soil and Healing from the Ground Up,’ she takes us on a journey to explore the sacred interconnectedness between our soil and ourselves, seamlessly weaving the science of our broken carbon cycle and the oppression of the divine femenine into a powerful tapestry of hope and resilience.

In this episode we explore:

  • Great Goddess and goddess archetypes

  • The science behind how our broken carbon cycle connects to the oppressed divine feminine

  • The Great Mother, our disconnection from her and  the impact it has on our bodies

  • How to transform our connection to the soil to heal from the ground up

  • Untangling the patriarchy in ourselves

Our Favorite Quotes From the Episode:

“Our disconnection from our bodies, from the Earth, from the Great Mother & goddess archetypes is literally killing us. The way back home is back into ourselves - into our inner work - that creates our ability to express outward solutions necessary and co-create together. Finding our sacred sexuality, reconnecting to our true power, maintaining healthy boundaries and communicating honestly is the way to healing our planet in time.”

- Dr. Erin McMorrow

“Recognizing that the patriarchy exists within us is the first step to healing ourselves and is the essential ingredient to healing the planet.”

SOUL SOIL EXERCISES:

Take at least ten minutes in a private, comfortable space and drop into your body and feel what’s there.

Feel into all sensations (pain, itching, tension, etc.) and notice any thoughts that come up. How does your nervous system feel (wired, frayed, calm)?

How does your stress level feel (high, medium)?

What does your inner monologue say?

Feel into any pain you might be feeling.

Without judging or attaching, breathe into these spaces and journal for at least five minutes about what comes up.

When you’re done, hum for at least another five minutes to release your energy further.

Practice this exercise once a day for a week and see what changes.

Begin to replace every no that comes up with a yes and every negative thought with an I love you.

Reflect on your relationship with the Great Goddess and goddess archetypes. Begin to reflect on how these themes and archetypes show up in your life.

FILL IN THE BLANK:

I forgive myself for believing in the misunderstanding that [original thought form]. The truth is [whatever is true for you].
