In the second episode of our series on the New York Times best seller Sex At Dawn, we ask some of our favorite men (gay, straight and in between) a big question—is lifelong traditional monogamy a powerful choice based in love or just some outdated societal programming?
As the author Christopher Ryan points out in his book, one of the first things to go when Agriculturalism emerged was having sex with multiple partners as an accepted aspect of many tribal societies. These communities were labeled by Christian Imperialists as sinful and barbaric and an ownership model was implemented where men would marry women and essentially own them as chattel. So lame. This religion-enforced monogamy has led to rampant infidelity, sky high divorce rates, and a society ashamed to be honest about wanting anything outside of traditional monogamous relationships. So what’s the fix? Poly for All-y? Or figuring out how to stay put in one relationship FOREVERRRRRRRRRR?
Please welcome Rolando, Malachi, John Shelton, Katie’s husband and our sound mixing genius Ethan, and the one and only Billy Procida from The Manwhore Podcast to lay it all out there for us on what men really want…to be or not to be monogamy.
