Why do we celebrate Pride Month?

As we celebrate this month with the beautiful people in our lives, take a moment to remember why we are celebrating.

We celebrate pride because in 1969 the Stonewall Uprising happened in Manhatten which was the tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement.

The uprising was 6 days long and was between the police and LGBTQ+ after raiding the Stonewall Inn, a well known gay bar.

Being gay was seen as a crimal defense. Can you believe that!?

They then decided to celebrate “Gay Pride Day”  on the last Sunday in June. Over the years the day grew to a month-long celebration.
